The program follows an approved framework by the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Parks that must be adhered to each year. The properties are addressed in priority order according to a pre-determined risk evaluation framework. This is based on the age of children living on the property, the soil lead levels and quality of ground cover.

Over time, as more properties complete the soil management process, the current framework may be adapted.
