Trail Area Health & Environment Program (THEP) Onboarding Guide 101

What Does THEP Deliver and Who Does What?

What?

THEP supports the community of Trail and surrounding areas to live, work and play in an area influenced by smelter air emissions for over 125 years. THEP focuses on air, soil, health, built environments (e.g. homes, daycares, fences, sheds, civic buildings, etc.), community connection and understanding the interrelationships between focus areas. THEP aims to be an accessible entry point to learn about the issues, ask questions and find support.

Who?

Air – Led by Teck, input by Ministry of Environment, working groups and THEC.
Health – Led by Interior Health.
Soil and Built Environments – Led by Teck with their third-party consulting team, AtkinsRealis, hosted at the Community Program Office (CPO)
Community Connection and Navigation – Collaborative effort by CPO reps, Interior Health public health nurses and City supported facilitator.
Integrating – Led by City of Trail with their contracted Lead Facilitator and all the partners.
