These questions have brought together professionals from Trail, B.C., Port Pirie, Australia, and Hoboken, Belgium in an international Community of Practice (CoP) focused on reducing lead exposure and improving public health.

In May 2025, THEP and Teck welcomed Liene Dhooghe, from Umicore in Hoboken, Belgium, to Trail. Liene presented the story of her community at the regular meeting of the Trail Area Health & Environment Committee (THEC). She also met the local program delivery team and Teck Trail Operations to compare notes and exchange ideas.

This presentation describes Teck’s application for an amendment to the Trail Operations Air Permits. This is in the pre-application phase to ENV and there is a requirement for a public notification process. At the November 28th, 2024, THEC meeting, Teck Trail Operations provided background on the permit amendment application to the group.Â
