- There are no known safe levels of lead (Pb) for children.
- Even low levels of Pb in blood have been shown to cause lower IQ, attention deficits, and reduced academic achievement.
- Children are most impacted during early years (less than 6), when they have higher hand to mouth behavior and their bodies are developing rapidly.
- Pb exposure is not a diagnosis. Many factors contribute to a child’s development, lead is an exposure to consider for children living in the Trail area.
