Historically, our program began offering blood lead testing to children in the greater Trail area in 1991. Over time, the annual blood lead testing clinics were targeted to children with greatest risk for developing elevated blood lead levels. In 2020, the Medical Health Officer recommended offering annual testing to children in Casino, Oasis, Waneta and Warfield. In addition, annual testing will provide more comprehensive data and support review of THEP services. Testing is voluntary.
