Soil within THEP’s Soil Management Area may exceed the acceptance criteria at the landfill due to historical aerial emissions from the Trail smelter. Metal contaminants that may exist include arsenic, cadmium, lead and zinc. Soil exceeding standards will require soil disposal support.
Soil testing and disposal approvals can take weeks, so plan early and get your soil tested now (it’s free). You can sign up online.
