THEP’s Soil Management Program uses a prioritization framework accepted by the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Parks. Properties are addressed in priority order according to a predetermined risk-based criteria. The priority is based on the age of children living on the property, the soil lead levels, and quality of ground cover.
While theoretically it may be helpful to work on soil replacement at adjacent properties, all properties are still assessed using the approved framework, which the program is required to follow. For most people, the risks associated with metals in soil are low, particularly where soils are covered by grass or other ground cover.
